“Yesterday I was clever, so I wanted to change the world. Today I am wise, so I am changing myself” Rumi
“I shall be telling this with a sigh Somewhere ages and ages hence: Two roads diverged in a wood, and I – I took the one less traveled by, And that has made all the difference.” Robert Frost
“How beautiful to know we create our own tragedies.” Nick Cave
Insight of the day:
Whether we are the victim or the victor has nothing to do with our life events or with the world outside of us. It’s all a state of mind. Yet, so many people have immersed themselves into the victim mentality, that they do not even realize it. I was one of them, until I saw what I was doing and I started choosing differently.
I would ask you to notice where in your life you are being the ‘victim’; sometimes it’s hidden in every-day language. Most people have automatically come to believe their negative victim thoughts. Once you start noticing it in yourself and in others, you can start challenging it – and from there you can choose to change it. Being the victim has become normal, but who says that normal is also natural or beneficial? We can consciously choose to follow our own path, the path of our hearts, the road less traveled.
Reflection journal:
Victim thoughts are just thoughts. How does your understanding of the inside-out nature of human experience help you change those? What if, for now, you made-believe that life is not meant to be serious at all? Unless you have already come to believe it, which is even better!!! Life is just a game, the only thing that weighs it down, that makes it very serious is our busy thinking. So, the purpose of the game is for you to “inherit” your own life, as it is at the moment, and make the most of it.
One restriction: you can not ask “why”, “who is to blame”, “what is fair”, or “who is right”. Two very powerful weapons: love and understanding…through the connection with your potential in the ‘here & now’. These give you real-time access to higher intelligence, wisdom, common sense, self-awareness, insights, trust and freedom.
Your compass is having fun and staying inspired. Where is the hidden gold? What would you do differently?
