THE PRESENT MOMENT

“There are only two days in the year that nothing can be done. One is called yesterday and the other is called tomorrow, so today is the right day to love, believe, do and mostly live.” Dalai Lama

If you are depressed, you are living in the past, if you are anxious, you are living in the future, if you are at peace, you are living in the present.” Lao Tzu

If you were conscious, that is to say totally present in the Now, all negativity would dissolve almost instantly. It could not survive in your presence.” Eckhart Tolle

“Yesterday is history. Tomorrow is a mystery. Today is a gift. That is why it is called the present.” Alice Morse Earle<

Insight of the day:

From a relaxed mind, in the present moment, we really have no problems and no worries. What if we could see and understand, at a deeper level, that these are only thoughts of the busy mind, nothing more-nothing less, and as such, we do not have to take them personally or seriously? From a relaxed mind, we experience freedom and well being, we become more intelligent, we receive insights, wisdom, and common sense. We all have a similar experience when we go to a quiet place. That makes the present moment so truthful and powerful. At any given point in time, we can either be in our thoughts or in the present moment, that is to say either in fear or in love. Being in the present moment is the greatest gift you can give yourself! It’s where the miracle of love takes place.

Reflection journal:

What can I trust more, my busy mind or my relaxed mind? How can this trust affect my every day life? Would I rather be neurotic or have calm determination? In my life so far, have I seen calm determination (in myself or others) work better than being busy and swamped?

Self-improvement gurus say that “Busy (mind) is the new stupid”, that is, when we think we have to do something through over-exertion and pressure, we eventually become less intelligent.
